KONNICHIWA〜〜〜!
The Japan Autumn Festival (“Akimatsuri”) began in 1977 in a small hotel parking lot owned by Japanese individuals. They wanted to provide an opportunity for Japanese children on Guam to experience a traditional Japanese festival. As the event flourished throughout the years, the festival transferred to its current site at Ypao Park in 1983. Akimatsuri has now become very popular among the local residents as well. It is enjoyed by an audience of more than 30,000 people, which makes it the largest Japan cultural event on island.
With the support of more than 90 corporations and organizations, the Japan Autumn Festival will offer over 40 stalls of remarkable food, drinks, and fun-filled games as well as the Mikoshi Parade and variety of Japanese and local performances on stage.
This celebration serves as the perfect opportunity for all Guam residents and the Japanese community to come together as one, to bond, and enjoy the Japanese culture.
